Quotes and video highlights are after the jump.

Flyers right wing Jaromir Jagr

Q: So were you a hundred percent out there or..?

"I had to play because there were no other Czechs. All of the Czechs were out and everybody knows, if there are no Czechs in the game, it's kind of a boring game. It's like when you want to make food without salt, you know what I mean? I was pushed."

Q: Did you self-demote yourself down to the fourth line? Did you say, "If I'm going to play, I want to be able to contribute?"

"Well, that was the plan with Lavy. It was just because I thought… in the morning skate, I felt fine for ten minutes, then the practice was a little bit longer and it started bothering me a little bit. That was the plan to just play less minutes and maybe power play. But I don't mind it! Nobody touched me!"

Q: It's like retirement, isn't it?

"Yeah, if I knew it was like this, no pressure, I would have asked ten years ago to put me on the fourth line."

Q: What have you noticed differently about Bryz the last couple of weeks?

"I think, for him, the biggest difference is playing a lot more games than before. That's the way I see it. He's probably not used to the practice. He likes to play games. Especially now, you have a lot of games and I think that's what he likes. To play a lot of games and take a rest when we have a practice and play a lot of games and build the confidence. Now, he's playing unbelievable. He's playing the way he should play and if he plays like this, it's great for us."

Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette

Q: Peter, can you talk about the defensive effort you got tonight, you’ve got a depleted forward unit, you’re missing three regulars back on defense, …second shutout…

“I thought it was really good just from a team point of view.  Guys blocking shots, making smart decisions with the pucks, picking at the front of the net, not allowing a lot of second opportunities, so I guess in that sense it was pretty tight.  For the most part, we kept the rush in front of us.  There was one face-off play where the guy slipped in behind us and was standing there but in saying that, we needed some big saves through the course of the game and Bryz was sharp again.”

Q: What did you think of Brandon Manning’s debut?

“Mandog?  Mandog was terrific.  He moved the puck, he generated some offense and defensively he held his own out there.  Coming in for the first time is never an easy thing and I thought he did a terrific job.  Played regular shifts, regular minutes and he looked good out there doing it.”

Q: Coach, three of the five goals from rookies tonight, I know we’ve talked about the rookies and the contributions they’ve made this year but have you ever been a part of a team where the rookies have played so well and played such major roles for a team?

“I’ve never been in a situation where there have been this many rookies available every game.  There’s lots of reasons why a team has success, but certainly they are a contributing factor.  Where we’re at right now, they’ve all been given roles and what we expect of them, they’ve done a really nice job.”

Q: Peter, you can hear the fans pretty obviously get behind Bryz tonight.  A couple of the guys said they couldn’t really imagine what he was going through over the last couple of months.  Do you think the support can help him?

“There’s no question I think confidence always plays in for players.  Just in general, if you’re speaking about players or a team, confidence I think is always a factor.  He seems pretty locked in right now.  He’s preparing, he’s going out there, he’s executing, and then he gets ready for the next one.  It’s more mechanical now, not his game or anything, just what he’s doing.  He’s dialed in from day to day.  He works hard in practice, he gets ready for the game, he goes out and does what he has to do and focuses on the next day when it comes.”

Q: Coach, how about Jagr?  Was he a game time?

“No, not really.  I had talked to him this morning and unless something had gone wrong from this morning, he was available to play.”

Q: Speak about your recent success in penalty kills?

“I always think that it starts with goaltending and Bryz has been excellent as of late.  That gives your penalty kill confidence and guys have done a nice job executing their roles, blocking a lot of shots as well.”

Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov

Q: You are the first goalie to record two shutouts in a week since Martin Biron was here. What do you think about that?

“Congratulations.” (Laughing)

Q: What did you think to have you name being cheered by the fans out there?

“You know I was so concentrated on the game I didn’t hear it but if they cheer for me it’s very nice, and very kind of them.  From hating to the love one step and the same in the other direction.

Q: The last couple minutes of the game you were diving for pucks.  Guys were really fighting in front to keep the shutout for you.  Is the adrenaline pumping really fast at that point?

“I think all 60 minutes was a great effort by the team not only just the last five minutes.  They played the whole game diving for the pucks to blocking to protecting the passing lanes.  They tried to make my job as easy as possible.  Remove the players from this slot to let me see the shot.  I think it was an unbelievable team effort tonight.  That’s why we had success tonight, 5-0.  This is all part of the team job, the shutout, the team deserved it.”

Q: Can you talk about the defense with four of your top defensemen out?

“Yeah we miss those guys because they got experience.  They’re part of the team, but we have some guys, when called up, Brandon Manning, release by the Colts and played tonight here.  He stepped up and played very good and even Gus.  Everybody like Andrej and “D” just played big minutes.  I can’t say enough about what’s good about defensive line and our offensive line, too because they have been in the defensive zone.  Like I said before it was a great team effort and the team played hard.  The team wants to win the game, whatever it takes we put it on the line and we win the games.”

After All The Changes, It Appears The Flyers Have Found Their Game

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, Life without Chris Pronger has left a void in the Philadelphia Flyers’ dressing room that extends far beyond his considerable on-ice presence. Pronger was such a big presence for the Flyers since arriving from the Anaheim Ducks that his absence is palpable – and evident the moment you walk into the room and can’t find his laughing...

Flyers-Maple Leafs Preview

After struggling for much of February, the Philadelphia Flyers appear to be hitting their stride. Most importantly, their goaltender has been the catalyst to the turnaround and appears to be brimming with confidence. Coming off his second shutout in three games, Ilya Bryzgalov should be in net looking to lead the Flyers to a fifth straight victory Saturday night against a Toronto...

Niklas Kronwall Just DEMOLISHES the Flyers' Voracek

Niklas Kronwall of the Detroit Red Wings is known for giving out punishing hits, something Philadelphia's Jakub Voracek learned the hard way during Tuesday's game between the two teams. Grabbing the puck and starting to head up the ice quickly, Voracek runs into the solid barrier that is Kronwall's shoulder. Immediately staggering on the ice, the refs should have whistled...

Jakub Voracek was blasted last night by Nicklas Kronwall

This is painful to watch.  The Flyers are up in arms about this hit delivered by the Detroit Red Wings Nicklas Kronwall, but it looks relatively clean if you ask me, just the timing was really crappy for Voracek.  He did get him in the head, but it doesn’t appear to be the intent

Tim Panaccio: Bryz Emerges From the Forest

Bryz. Bryzard of Oz. Bryzly Bear. How about … the “old” Bryz is back? You know, the one who played so well in giving the Phoenix Coyotes a chance to win every night last season?
