Early in his career, former New Jersey Devils forward Bobby Holik was suspended for slew-footing an opponent. Holik said there wasn't a penalty called on the play.   The nearest referee took heat for not making the call, and Holik said the referee later complained to him about it.   "He said I made him look bad. How did I make him look bad?" Holik said. "He didn't say he'd get me back though, but we were not on the best of terms."   And when a player and a referee aren't on the best of terms, the calls can pile up. Ask Sean Avery.   "There are personality conflicts. Of course," Holik said. "Sometimes emotions cloud the right judgment and (stuff) happens."   Holik is retired. His slew-footing incident happened more than a decade ago. The point? Personality conflicts between players and referees have been in the NHL for a long time -- even before Holik. And certainly long before Vancouver Canucks forw...
