Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien scored to snap a tie midway into the third period as the host Winnipeg Jets pulled to within two points of eighth-place Washington with a 3-2 victory over the Capitals on Friday.
Captain Andrew Ladd netted his eighth goal in 11 contests and Nik Antropov also tallied for the Jets, who secured their fourth straight victory at MTS Centre.
Brooks Laich recorded his fourth goal in six matches and Mathieu Perreault added a power-play goal for the Capitals, who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
With the game tied at 2-2, Evander Kane skated around a defender and wristed a shot that Byfuglien tapped past Tomas Vokoun. Byfuglien's 11th goal came at 9:21 of the third period.
Ondrej Pavelec, who turned aside 20 shots, preserved the victory by stopping 10 of the 11 shots in the final session.
