For most of the season Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been the top rookie in the NHL. He has missed significant time due to injury and this has allowed others to pass him in the rookie of the year race. A little over a week ago I picked Adam Henrique as the Calder Trophy leader. Since that post Henrique has not scored a point while Gabriel Landeskog has scored seven points. This has made Landeskog the Calder Trophy leader.
Landeskog has 40 points so far this season. This puts him second in rookie scoring. He is one point behind Henrique. He has the best +/- rating on his Colorado team at +22. He is well ahead of any teammates. Ryan Wilson is second at +9. He is doing this while playing against the toughest competition of any Avalanche player and playing significant penalty kill time.

Colorado Avalanche left wing Gabriel Landeskog was named the NHL's rookie of the month for February.
The 19-year-old Landeskog had seven goals and 13 points in 12 games during the month.
The hot streak has given him 18 goals and 22 assists, putting him one point behind New Jersey's Adam Henrique in the rookie scoring race.
