NY Rangers Blog:
With his team down 3-0 going into the third period, you have to assume Adam Oates had his troops fired with an inspirational pep talk during the second intermission.
However, with the Capitals likely spitting nails and farting lightning bolts to begin the period, it was Ryan Callahan just 13 seconds into the final frame, who made sure there would be no Maple Leaf like collapse for the Rangers by icing the game by stealing the puck and then just undressing Braden Holtby with this move...
...what's funny is that I was watching Game 7 with a few of my boys and before the third period began one of buddies asked if there was any chance the Rangers could just make it 4-0 so that we could finally have a relitivly stress free period. And my answer literally 10 seconds before the Callahan goal was "there's a better chance of this becoming a 3-2 game than a 4-0 one." You're welcome for the reverse mush.
...what a huge goal by Callahan as he put to bed an...

It only took one goal from Derick Brassard to keep the New York Rangers alive on Sunday.
Brassard told Newsday that the team’s fans pushed him to do it. “The crowd was chanting to shoot the puck,” Brassard said.
“I didn’t see myself giving a pass to one of my teammates there. I think I had to shoot it.”

Pat Leonard at the Daily News reports that tonight's line-up will remain the same, as Marc Staal (eye), Ryane Clowe (undisclosed) and Darroll Powe (concussion) are out tonight.
Leonard adds that neither Clowe nor Powe traveled with the team to Washington.
...never like to hear that two guys with possible concussions weren't able to fly. Usually means that the symptoms...
Per Andrew Gross, defenseman Stu Bickel and forward J.T. Miller were sent home from the Rangers taxi squad for wrist injuries. This doesn’t have much of an effect on the Rangers, but neither Bickel nor Miller will be available as injury replacements.
Seriously, is there anything Henrik Lundqvist can't do? This guy has single handedly kept the Rangers in this series. The Blueshirts have scored just 11 goals in the first six games. 11! And because of the Swedish netminders heroics there will be a Game 7.
Here's some of his handy work from the closing minutes of Game 6 including his final second pad save on John Carlson...

The Rangers are pretty good at making us sweat. This club went to seven games twice (Ottawa, Washington) and six games once (Devils) last season. They went to seven games in 2009 (Washington). There was only one series in this time frame that didn’t go to seven games, and that was in 2011 when the Rangers lost to the Caps in five games. If the Rangers are...
Mission #1 accomplished, now on to Mission #2.
The Rangers pulled out a thrilling 1-0 win over the Caps on Sunday, buoyed by a goal by Derick Brassard and supported by the constant, stellar goaltending by Henrik Lundqvist. The combination of those two along with a strong forecheck that helped control action better than many games throughout the series and the discipline to stay...
Saying Rangers coach John Tortorella is irascible and unhelpful in a news conference is like saying they have ice at hockey rinks. But Sunday’s after-game chit chat, after the Rangers beat the Capitals 1-0 in their first-round playoff series, was especially charming.
Tortorella has never been one to hide his lack of love for the media, but he was also in a didactic mood Sunday...
Putting the puck past Henrik Lundqvist is a huge challenge for the Boston Bruins.
Of course, they have to get it to him first and that's a tough task against the shot-blocking New York Rangers.
''They're definitely going to be laying down to block those shots,'' Boston forward Patrice Bergeron said after practice for Thursday night's series opener. ...
Mike Keenan ended the New York Rangers 54 year Stanley Cup drought in 1994. Now, Keenan will try to lead another team to hockey glory as he finally will be back behind the bench. Only this time “Iron Mike” will be coaching in Russia.
Keenan signed a two-year contract to take over as head coach of HC Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Metallurg put out a press release earlier today making...
Derek Boogaard spoke with his fists, now his family is doing the talking for him (courtesy of ESPN.com)
It was May of 2011 when the NHL world was turned upside down with the loss of New York Rangers and former Minnesota Wild enforcer Derek Boogaard. After an autopsy revealed that Boogaard’s death was due to an accidental overdose on painkillers and alcohol, it was revealed that...
Yesterday, John Tortorella made the rounds on the New York radio shows as he was a guest on the Mike Francesa radio show (WFAN 660) as well as the Michael Kay Show (ESPN Radio) to discuss the big Game 7 win vs. the Capitals and preview the Rangers conference semifinals series against the Bruins...
