I hate to make excuses because the Rangers didn't deserve to win last night after an atrocious start and going 0-for-7 on the power play, but the refs didn't make life easy for the Rangers.First, similar to the bogus Winter Classic closing the hand on the puck penalty, last night's call on Dan Girardi in the first period was just as egregious. At no point does he close his hand on the puck. See for yourself... John Tortorella, who made sure everyone knew he wasn't criticizing the refs, said this about the call..."I saw the replay and I saw Danny just brush the puck away." For the Rangers thoughts and video on the refs quick whistle on Corey Corawford's skate save in second period, click the "Read More" tab below. Next the quick whistle by the ref with the puck just sitting in plain view under Corey Crawford's skate after making a save on Marian Gaborik cancels a sure goal by Ryan Callahan in the second period... ...

Talking Rangers’ Puck with Scotty Hockey

If you are a New York Rangers’ fan that goes around looking for Blueshirts’ related blogs, than I am sure you have heard of Scotty Hockey. Scotty, a great blogging friend of mine and a frequent interviewee here at Kukla’s Korner, is an extremely honest Rangers’ blogger who tells it like it is. He was nice enough to take time out of his busy schedule to give us his thoughts...

Morning Skate Notes: Biron Starts; Feds, Wolski, Woywitka Out; Heritage Jersey Tonight

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Marton Biron was the first goaltender off the ice this morning meaning he will likely start tonight's game against the Blackhawks....Lundqvist has seen a lot of rubber lately, so this is a great chance to get him some rest against a struggling Blackhawks team. Gross adds that Ruslan Fedotenko was working with the training staff...

Wolski, Woywitka Recalled from Whale

HARTFORD, February 15, 2012:  Connecticut Whale general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have recalled forward Wojtek Wolski and defenseman Jeff Woywitka from their conditioning loans to the Whale. During their two-week conditioning periods with Connecticut, Wolski scored three goals, including two game-winners, and had two assists for five...

Rangers coach never thought of pulling Biron

When the Blackhawks put their third goal in the first four minutes past backup goalie Martin Biron last night, the chants for Henrik Lundqvist came raining down from the Garden faithful. But Rangers coach John Tortorella stuck with Biron, even after he gave up a fourth goal 9:38 into...

Blog: It’s Only One Loss Rangers Fans

Contrary to popular belief last night, the world has not ended. While losses are sometimes hard to stomach, I’d much rather have this kind of loss now than in the playoffs. Last night, the Rangers got outplayed. Plain and simple.  The ‘Hawks had the Rangers number from the get go.  On the power plays, it [...]

Rangers' Dubinsky not dwelling on trade rumor

New York Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky has heard his name involved in recent trade rumors but knows there is nothing he can do leading up to Monday's trade deadline besides focus on his play.

Winning ugly losing uglier

Only two games on the schedule involving New York Ranger prospects and boy these were stinkers. It is very disappointing to see too many of these kinds of games at this time of the year. Yes we know it's been a long season and yes these kids are tired, some are worn out but welcome to the world of hockey. This is the time of year where contracts are earned, careers made...

Rangers On Rick Nash’s Deadline “Wish List”

According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, the Rangers are on a list of five teams that Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash would accept a trade to at this year’s trade deadline. The Rangers have been linked to Nash over the last few weeks, and now it seems as though him coming to New [...]

Blackhawks 4, Rangers 2

The New York Rangers (37-14-5) lost to the Chicago Blackhawks (30-21-7) by the score of 4-2, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports....the saddest part of tonight's game was despite a horrific start the Rangers could have easily won. Not going to get too crazy over it, they can't win every game and Chicago was due....tonight's game further proves Lundqvist...

Friday night hockey for New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects continues on what is turning into a rather bizarre month of February. If we could explain why so many of the prospects and their teams are struggling like they are we would. It's almost like somebody is playing one very huge practical joke on us and we're still waiting for the punchline. Sadly what...

Great Sports Debate: What Do You Think Hurts The Most?

I was watching the New York Rangers play the Washington Capitals this past Sunday. In the beginning of the game, Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi got hit in the head with a puck. It was somewhat of a glancing blow, but it looked horrible. Fortunately, he was alright. This, of course, brought about today’s debate – What (in sports) do you think hurts the most? I’ve put together...
