The answer is yes. Signing Brian Elliot to a $600,000 two-way deal was a great move as the Blues gained an all star and did not have to sacrifice any assets. It was a minor blip on the radar in the free agency period last summer but it’s panned out wonderfully to this point. What they lost in free agency though was Ty Conklin. This sounds like nothing at first.
I don’t have cable, so all I watch is hockey and the (bad) news. In watching the Phoenix Coyotes, one thing that makes them a different team is goaltender Mike Smith’s ability to move the puck. Any time the Coyotes are on the powerplay and the opposing team clears the puck, Smith is far out of the crease looking to catch the opposing teams’ penalty killers in a line change. Whenever opposing teams casually flip the puck into the Coyotes’ zone, he comes way out of his crease to play it. It’s like having a third defenseman back there. Blues goalie Elliott ready for All-Star debut
ST. LOUIS - Traveling back to Ottawa was likely the last thing goalie Brian Elliott thought he would be doing during the All-Star break when he signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues last summer.
Heck, Elliott wasn't even sure he was going to make the Blues roster when training camp opened in September. Now he's headed to the All-Star Game as their only representative...
Not quite ready to take Wings
The Blues appear to be on the verge of consistently competing with the NHL's big boys, but as they showed in Monday's 3-1 loss to Detroit, they're not quite there yet.
With a chance to jump over Detroit into No. 1 in the NHL standings, the Blues failed to withstand a Red Wings charge for the third straight time the teams have met in the last month.
The Blues led 1-0...
we are like kind of legit
You know, we always forget about the Blues. We don't know why. They've been around awhile. It probably has something to do with the fact that Missouri is just a ******* unlikely place for a hockey team. We'll say even more unlikely than Phoenix or Atlanta or SUNRISE, FLORIDA, or Tampa Bay. It just seems so antithetical to hockey and to pro sports and we don't even...

With just over a minute remaining in regulation and the teams tied 2-2 on Tuesday night, Barret Jackman of the St. Louis Blues went to play the puck in the corner. Matt Cooke of the Pittsburgh Penguins was right on his tail and delivered a check.
What happened next is a point of some controversy:
