Lightning fall late on the road to Montreal

MONTREAL (AP) -- Brian Gionta scored his second goal of the game with 47 seconds left in the game and the Montreal Canadiens snapped a three-game skid with a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night. Gionta was at the left post to put a rebound off the end boards into an open side for the winner. Alex Galchenyuk also scored for the Canadiens, who had been outscored...

It’s Getting Messy In Montreal

from Mike Boone of Hockey Inside/Out, The Canadiens are a mess. A team that gave up 16 first-period goals in the first 40 games has been lit up for eight in the last three. The last time goaltenders were pulled in three consecutive starts was in October, 2001. Their names were José Theodore, Jeff Hackett and Mathieu Garon. Carey Price was supposed to have a night...

Carey Price makes an insane last-second kick save

Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price made a phenomenal last-second kick save on Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis on Thursday night.  The Lightning and Canadiens were deadlocked in a scoreless game thanks to Price.  He was down and out and St. Louis had the whole net open when Price kicked his leg up and kept the puck out.  It was a remarkable display of athleticism...

Canadiens entering NHL Playoff gunfight armed with knives by   Jacques Decarie

As Jimmy Malone said in The Untouchables, you should never go to a gunfight with a knife. The Montreal Canadiens, being the third team in the NHL to clinch a playoff spot, had their knives well sharpened all year long. Since the clinching victory however, the Habs knives have dulled, losing three games to Toronto, [...]

Lightning strikes, Habs win

Montreal dug out what was a key 3-2 victory Thursday night, scoring late after blowing the lead earlier in the game. Carey Price made a number of difficult saves, Montreal's defence tighened up, and the kids, especially Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller, played a brilliant game. Does this mean Montreal has their mojo back? Who knows. What it does mean, however, is that the Habs...

Ryan White Suspended Five Games by   TheHockeyHouse

NHL Press Release NEW YORK – Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan White has been suspended for five games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kent Huskins during NHL Game No. 626 in Montreal on Monday, April 15, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining...

Eric Engels: Habs Defenses are Down

Well, it's pretty clear that there wasn't a one-game solution to the problems the Canadiens have been having of late. Most obvious point of concern is beyond their net, not that Carey Price and Peter Budaj have been reassuring, but what's going on in front of them with the defensemen is almost incomprehensible. The Habs ran through most of the regular season without...

Game 43: Penguins-Canadiens Recap

Carey Price is Kanyon. Ok. That’s unfair. But only somewhat. Price didn’t start for the Montreal Canadiens tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Peter Budaj, the winner of his last six starts prior to tonight, started the game and performed like hot garbage. He gave up three goals on nine shots in the first period before…

Capitals-Canadiens Preview

Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens are coming off a much-needed win but might seek a better performance. Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals are trying to rebound from their first bad one in quite some time. In a key matchup of teams with tenuous division leads, Ovechkin tries to help the Capitals continue their recent dominance in Montreal on Saturday night. While the...

Lightning drop fifth straight in Montreal

The Lightning are ending the season in really bad form after losing their fifth straight 3-2 to the Montreal Canadiens. The Bolts had several chances throughout the game, primarily in the first period. They would give up two goals in the second period, both coming off of turnovers — first turnover at center ice the second was a failed attempt to get the puck out of the defensive...

smoking with cigarettes.

The Habs are like this terrible thorn in your side that never ever goes away. And then, of course, the thorned area gets infected. And then gangrenous. And they bring Carey Price with them, too.  He's so SAD. Not starting is a serious burn. He's gonna have to talk to mad jagerbombs to sort out this emotional tiff, you guys.  Also, lols to Root for having the...
