NHLHS Canadiens correspondent Christopher Nardi discusses the announcement made this morning that Brian Gionta will become the 28th captain of the Montreal Canadiens for the 2010-2011 season.
After a whole season last year where people wondered if a captain would ever be named, and why Jacques Martin was delaying the inevitable so much, Habs fans are now relieved to see that one of their favorites, Brian Gionta, has been chosen to lead the pack into the 2010-2011 season. Montreal newspaper La Presse confirmed that Gionta’s captaincy will be announced by the Habs administration during the first day of training camp.
During the 2010-2011 season, Brian Gionta was an undisputed leader. Although he only reaches 5’7, Gionta’s leadership has a height of it’s own.
