The Montreal Canadiens on Friday signed left wing Mathieu Darche to a one-year contract extension, the team announced.
Financial terms were not disclosed. TSN.ca reported the deal was for $700,000 and delays Darche's entry into unrestricted free agency by one year.
"Mathieu is a classy veteran player who displays great leadership and determination, and we strongly believe he can help us achieve our goals in the upcoming season," Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier said.
Darche had 12 goals, 14 assists and plus-7 rating in 59 games last season.
