Max Pacioretty has signed a multi-year extension with the Montreal Canadiens.

Pacioretty has signed a six-year contract extension worth $27 million. He had one year left on his contract worth $1.625 million.

He had 33 goals and 32 assists this season. He was also given the Masterstron Trophy, which is given to the player that best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

In March 2011, he suffered a concussion and fractured a vertebra when Boston Bruins defense man Zdeno Chara hit him in a collision.

What a proactive move by Marc Bergevin to secure Max Pacioretty's services for another six years on top of this season. The coup-de-grace being that his average annual salary will be 4.5 million dollars against the salary cap.
