The Carolina Hurricanes have placed backup goalie Brian Boucher on injured reserve and say center Jeff Skinner is out with an undisclosed injury.
The team on Sunday also recalled forward Drayson Bowman from its AHL affiliate in Charlotte.
Boucher suffered a lower body injury during practice Monday in Calgary but did not elaborate on the injury.
The team also did not have any additional details on the injury suffered by Skinner. The reigning NHL rookie of the year leads the last-place Hurricanes with 12 goals and 24 points.
The 22-year-old Bowman has two goals and one assist in 34 career games with Carolina.
The Hurricanes wrap up their four-game road swing through Canada on Tuesday at Toronto.

Former Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice wishes successor, Kirk Muller, good luck
When Paul Maurice was fired from his post as the Carolina Hurricanes head coach on Tuesday, he could have left kicking and screaming. Instead, he packed up his things and left in possibly the classiest way possible. He left a note for his successor, nineteen-year NHL player Kirk Muller, in the Hurricanes locker room.
As Sportsgrid pointed out, it may have been a plea for Muller...
Canes get first feel for new man in charge
Kirk Muller (see photos) took to the ice today for the first time with his new team at the RBC Center, and in many ways it appeared to be just another morning skate for the Carolina Hurricanes.
It was anything but, of course. It was a new day and all eyes were on Muller, who was hired Monday by the Hurricanes to replace fired coach Paul Maurice (see photos), and is charged with righting...
Hurricanes claim RW Nodl; reassign Sutter
The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed right wing Andreas Nodl on waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
The team also reassigned forward Brent Sutter to Charlotte of the AHL. The moves were announced prior to coach Kirk Mueller's debut with the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Nodl has one assist in 12 games with the Flyers this season. He is expected to provide depth to...
Hurricanes Claim Nodl off Waivers
This had to have been one of the easiest decisions for Carolina Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford.
His team is sitting in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, having won 3 of their last 10 games. The team has a brand new NHL coach (literally) in Kirk Muller. Their penalty killing ranks 22nd in the NHL.
If [...]
Florida Panthers vs. Carolina Hurricanes 11/29/11 Scoring Chances
This may have been Carolina's fourth straight loss but it was also a game where the Hurricanes were the better team. Florida was outchanced 17-13 for the entire game and virtually had no life in the first period but the Canes did not make them pay for it. Once again, some of the blame falls on the powerplay failing to create chances when they had plenty of opportunities (five...
Muller's passion won him first NHL coaching job
When the time came for Guy Carbonneau to fill out his coaching staff in the summer of 2006, when he was named head coach in Montreal not long after the Hurricanes eliminated the Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs, he started with veteran Montreal assistant Doug Jarvis. That was an easy hire.
For his other assistant, he turned to a former NHL teammate whose only coaching...

'Canes in desperate need of a win under Muller
Raleigh, NC --- One of the reasons the Carolina Hurricanes made a coaching change earlier this week was to lighten the mood in the team's locker room by taking some pressure off of the players.
In addition, new coach Kirk Muller's message was for the team to have fun. But losing isn't fun. And even with Paul Maurice gone and Muller calling the shots, the results haven...
