TEAMS: Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins
Vancouver Canucks left wing Mason Raymond will make his season debut in Sunday's game against the Northwest Division rival Calgary Flames.
Raymond was initially set to play in Thursday's contest versus the Nashville Predators, but the team was late in filing the necessary paperwork to NHL headquarters. The Canucks missed the 5 p.m. ET deadline by five minutes.
The 26-year-old Raymond has been sidelined with a severe back injury suffered during the Stanley Cup Finals last season. He suffered a vetebrae compression fracture when he was hit by Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
For what it's worth, Vancouver assistant general manager Laurence Gilman said that Raymond's paperwork was submitted without issue on Friday morning.
