Gooooooooal of the week! The Vancouver Canucks scored a few spectacular goals in a furious first week of the 2013 season, but one tally especially stood out as this week’s winner. Zack Kassian’s second goal of the season Saturday versus the Anaheim Ducks was another piece of artistry on ice from Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Watch the magic unfold as the brothers work the puck through a few tight gaps down low before sending it cross-crease to Kassian for an easy finish. While Kassian did little to set this one up, Vancouver’s fourth goal against the Ducks proved to Canucks fans once again that Sedinery knows no bounds. Working by themselves behind the goal line, Henrik and Daniel play a quick game of give-and-go before Daniel makes his cut towards the net, calling for a ridiculous pass Henrik has to put between his skates in order to hit his brother in front. Stunned by a split-second of Sedinery, the remaining two Ducks defenders in front of the net are forced to collapse in front of the crease, doing all they can to stop Henrik with an excellent opportunity in front of the net. This is where the Sedins drive defenders (and Canucks fans) completely crazy. Rather than fire a bad-angle shot from just in front of Jonas Hiller, Henrik decides to deke around the defender in the crease and slip a neat pass to Kassian at the side door. Having expected a shot, both Ducks defenders and even Jonas Hiller hit the deck to block the puck, leaving the third Canucks forward completely open to bury the biscuit in an empty net, even after taking time to adjust for the shot. Canucks fans have seen goals like this a hundred times before, but what makes it so special is that the Sedins are capable of executing plays like this with almost anyone on the ice. From Anson Carter to Alex Burrows, players without superstar qualities have played their best hockey alongside the Sedin twins, and the emergence of Zack Kassian has Canucks fans extremely excited over his big line potential in Vancouver.
