Canucks look to continue dominance

The Vancouver Canucks will look to return home undefeated after a four game road trip. Standing in their way is the Calgary Flames, a team that has had their share of troubles with the Canucks over the past few years.

*NHL ATS Matchup Report*

Vancouver is 10-1-2 in their last 13 games against Flames and they have won five straight games in Calgary.

Vancouver comes into Saturday’s game on an impressive streak – 6-0-1 in their last seven games and 8-2-2 in their last 12.

Although their recent record has been great, their overall play has been somewhat underwhelming. That is until Thursday night when they turned in perhaps their best effort in a couple of weeks, after four straight games that required extra time.

The Canucks are currently third in the NHL in goals for and seventh in goals against. It had been the second line that had been carrying the team until Thursday when an injured Henrik Sedin woke up and tallied a goal and an assist while Brother Daniel Sedin was equally effective.

Still, Ryan Kesler and crew have been superb – Kesler has scored in five straight games and in seven of eight and David Booth has averaged a point per game over the last seven.

Even the fourth line pitched in on Thursday night with a goal. With four lines playing at a high level, Vancouver is very tough to beat.

With Cory Schneider having gotten his spot start out of the way, we can expect to see Roberto Luongo back between the pipes for Vancouver. Lou is 2-0-0 with a 2.33 goals against average in his last two games and has a 3-0-0 record in his last three starts versus Calgary with a sensational 1.34 goals against average.

The Calgary Flames return home after a 1-0-2 road trip, in 9th place in the Western Conference and two points behind the team that beat them Thursday, Phoenix.

The Flames continue to struggle in the offensive department – 24th in goals for but are average in goals against (12th).

Olli Jokinen has absolutely caught fire for the Flames as of late – five goals and three assists during a five game win streak and five points in his last two games.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Calgary Flames Preview & Gambling Lines

Alex Tanguay has been playing well with five points in four games and Jarome Iginla has recorded five in four as well. The numbers suggest that this could be a closer game than most think.

Like Roberto Luongo, Mikka Kiprusoff got last game off to savor his 300th career win. He will return to the nets having gone 4-2-2 in his last eight starts with a 1.71 goals against average.

However, his numbers against the Canucks are absolutely brutal – 2-8-0 in his last 10 starts with an ugly 4.90 goals against average. In his last four starts at home against Vancouver Kipper is 0-4-0 with a 6.73 goals against average – OUCH!

Dave’s Free Won’t Cost You Anything NHL Betting Prediction:

The Canucks are 10-1-2 in their last 13 games against Calgary and are an impressive 10-1 in their last 11 Saturday games!

Calgary is 9-3 in their last 12 games at home.

Vancouver has proven that they don’t need to play that well to win games. Thursday’s matchup against Minnesota saw the Canucks return to the elite form that we have all become accustomed to.

Vancouver has absolutely owned the Flames particularly in Calgary as of late.

Expect more of the same!

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -140
