In case you missed it earlier today, Canucks forward Zack Kassian was suspended 5 regular season games. Plus the rest of the preseason.
WHY you ask? For his high stick that broke the jaw of Edmonton’s Sam Gagner on Saturday.
“As he nears the boards Kassian comes to a spinning stop, recklessly swinging his stick and striking Gagner in the face and breaking his...

NHL director of player safety Brendan Shanahan and the rest of his office aren’t getting any breaks even if it is only the preseason.
There’s been plenty of nasty play so far in the exhibition slate, and that was continued Saturday night in the Oilers-Canucks games. While the infraction was seemingly a mistake, there could certainly be discipline on the way for Vancouver’s...
John Tortorella is assembling the puzzle pieces that are his Vancouver Canucks and he still doesn’t know just where Zack Kassian fits.
It’s clear he’d like Kassian to slide in alongside the Sedin twins on Vancouver’s first line and develop into the type of power forward many project him to be.
So far that Kassian puzzle piece hasn’t exactly snapped into place. The 22...
from Chris Johnston of Sportsnet,
Everyone is going to be pushed outside of his comfort zone. Except Luongo — all the coach wants to see from his No. 1 goalie is that he gets back into his. Tortorella believes the goaltending circus finally left town when Cory Schneider was traded in July and has made it no secret that Luongo is now the most important player the Canucks have...

It took four games, but the Vancouver Canucks finally picked up their first win of the preseason.
The Canucks jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 6-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes.
Vancouver dressed almost every NHL regular they have so the result wasn't surprising; although the Coyotes iced a pretty...
Having a great preseason does not a season make. Working out the kinks, finding new chemistry and getting ready for the long grind is what exhibition is all about. Let’s just make it shorter, we get the point already.
Despite dropping their first two preseason games, the Vancouver Canucks are finding out that signing big ticket players out of free agency and selling the farm to...

Just a day after a 6-1 victory over Phoenix, the Vancouver Canucks were on the other end of a blowout as they fell to the San Jose Sharks, 5-0.
From start to finish the Sharks controlled play as they led 2-0 after 20 minutes and never looked back en route to their five goal victory.
Both teams dressed very competitive lineups...
