Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom will accompany the team to Boston for Thursday's game against the Bruins, although he is not expected to play.
Backstrom was cleared for full participation in practice over the weekend and passed his baseline concussion test Tuesday.
He has been sidelined with a concussion since Jan. 3 following a hit to the head by then-Calgary Flames forward Rene Bourque.
With only five games remaining on the season, the Capitals trail Buffalo by two points for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Backstrom was leading the team in scoring at the time of the injury with 13 goals and 29 assists in 38 games.
