Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom expects to return to the ice for Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens.
After missing 40 games with a concussion, Backstrom took part during the team's morning skate, the Washington Post reported. The 24-year-old Swede skated on the top line with captain Alex Ovechkin and Marcus Johansson."I'm very excited. It’s going to be fun to play again," Backstrom told the newspaper. "It’s a big game for us and we need all those points."Backstrom has been sidelined with a concussion since Jan. 3 following a hit to the head by then-Calgary Flames forward Rene Bourque.
He was leading the team in scoring at the time of the injury with 13 goals and 29 assists in 38 games.
