According to Jim Williams of the Washington Examiner, the Washington Capitals are close to agreeing to a new multi-year contract with Bonneville's 1500 AM to air their games for the upcoming 2009-10 season. This is somewhat disappointing news for Capitals fans who had hoped the team would be able to move their radio broadcasts to the newly launched FM station, 106.7 the fan. The move would have made sense in that it would put them on an all sports station and provided them with a much higher quality signal on the FM dial. The announcement proves that even though the Capitals are the hottest team in the area, they still have a ways to go before they become a household name. The media continues it's favor of the NBA over the NHL, even though the local hockey team has been netting record numbers in the ratings books. Granted we are talking about radio here instead of television. And in this day in age, does anybody really listen to sports radio broadcasts at all? Maybe if ...
