The Washington Capitals came back from a 4-2 deficit thanks to D Mike Green's 2 goals to beat Philadelphia in the Stanley Cup Playoff series opener, 5-4.
The most un-suspecting Capital started off the scoring on a rebound off of Philadelphia Goalie Martin Biron. Donald Brashear took a rebound from a long slap shot by D Tom Poti to give the Caps a 1-0 edge. Five minutes later, Vaclav Prospal knotted the game at 1-1. That ended the first intermission with a 1-1 tie.
