Washington Capital Chris Bourque, son of Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, has told the Washington Capitals organization he plans to play hockey next season in Russia in the KHL.  The Capitals will retain NHL right to Bourque.

Bourque was the 33rd pick of the 2004 NHL draft by the Capitals.  Bourque has been a star player for several season with the Capitals AHL affiliate Hershey Bears.  He has seen ice time with the Capitals as well, but has failed in several attempts to crack the lineup permanently.    Last season the Caps released Bourque and he was claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguin, but was eventually released by Pittsburgh mid-season.  He resigned with Hershey and help lead the Bears to their second consecutive Calder Cup championship.  He scored 22 goals and 48 assists in the AHL last season.

Additionally, the Capitals did resign the following prospects:  Jay Beagle, Andrew Gordon, Andrew Joudrey, and Patrick McNeill.
