The new Team USA uniforms that will be worn in Sochi in 2014 (photo courtesy of Getty Images) Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson is arguably one of the best American defensemen in the NHL today and his play is not going unnoticed. Carlson and 47 other American-born players  hit the ice in our Nation’s capital in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in February with a few new faces, and a new uniform.   On Tuesday the US Men’s National team unveiled the new unis complete with a new shield logo with the letters “USA” on top of red and white vertical strips. The uniform it’s self is blue, complete with one band of red and one band of white on each Capitals defenseman John Carlson showing off the new uniforms of Team USA arm. USA players such as Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres and Patrick Kane of the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks modeled the jerseys for the crowed that attended at Kettler Ice Complex in Arlington Virginia. Even Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma received a warm welcome, however it’s something that the coach shouldn’t get used to from the DC faithful. Carlson himself had this to say about the new uniforms: “[The jersey] looks great.  It is not too flashy, but flashy enough. It has been a cool event. It was convenient for me in that sense. It was cool was to see our fans turn into USA fans and everyone who came for all of the stuff today.”   A runner-up to Team Canada in the 2010 Olympics, the United States are not looked to as underdogs anymore this time around, but as a team who can potentially win it all. They still have that bitter taste in their mouth from 2010 watching Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby score the game winner in overtime against “Captain America” Ryan Miller and are looking for revenge come February.
