In response to an awful 0-2 Canadian road trip against Edmonton and Vancouver where the Caps defense, penalty killing and transition game looked inept, Coach Bruce Boudreau made several changes to the line up against the Anaheim Ducks. He brought up Cody Eakin from the Hershey Bears to man the wing on the 2nd line with Marcus Johansson and Alexander Semin while demoting Mike Knuble from that line to the 4th line with Matt Hendricks and Matthieu Perreault. Jeff Halpern sat in the press box while Perreault played center on the 4th line. The defensive pairing changes were even more dramatic since Boudreau broke up John Carlson and Karl Alzner. Not that they played that well in Canada together. He paired Alzner with Jeff Schultz and put John Erskine (nice to have you back John!) with Carlson. Dennis Wideman and Roman Hamrlik played together again. Not that all the lines stayed intact because...for the first 28:59 of the game the Ducks owned the Caps and put on a clinic on how to pass ...

Ovi Concerned About Boudreau's Waistline?
Oh, Ovi.
The Caps 5-4 overtime win on Tuesday after being down 3-0 was pretty spectacular. Unfortunately, today’s headlines are focused on Ovechkin and his apparent potty mouth.
After sub-par play from the Caps’ captain, Bruce Boudreau decided to bench Ovi for the final minute of regulation. The result was a game-tying goal by Nicklas Backstrom and a clearly upset...
Alex Ovechkin Calls Bruce Boudreau "FAT F*CK"?
In hockey circles, Bruce Boudreau is a well respected and lovable head coach who inherited a 6–14–1 Washington Capitals team in November of 2007 and was credited for turning them around. In the remainder of that 2007-08 season, the Capitals went 37-17-7 and captured their first of four consecutive Southeast Division titles. Boudreau himself was recognized for his work...

Washington Capitals Look to Rebound After Two Straight Losses
The Washington Capitals two-game road trip through western Canada didn’t go nearly as smoothly as Bruce Boudreau had imagined. It started off with the Capitals potent offense being shut down by the young Edmonton Oilers team, losing 2-1. It seemed as though all the bounces, and calls, went to the Oilers. It was a penalty filled game, but mostly for the Capitals. It was the...
On benched Alex Ovechkin’s cussing rift with Bruce Boudreau’s gut
"Where's No. 8?"
That was the immediate question with 1:02 left in the third period and the Washington Capitals trailing the Anaheim Ducks by a goal on Tuesday night. Tomas Vokoun had been yanked for an extra skater; so where was No. 8 for Anaheim, Teemu Selanne, trying to tally the 23rd hat trick of his career with an empty-netter and complete a five-point night?
