Carolina Hurricanes sign forward prospect Bradly Nadeau to entry-level contract
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward prospect Bradly Nadeau to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Sunday afternoon.

Nadeau, 18, collected 19 goals and 46 points in 37 games as a freshman at the University of Maine during the 2023–24 season. The 5’10” winger left his final four years of NCAA eligibility on the table to sign with the Hurricanes on Sunday.

The Hurricanes originally selected Nadeau in the first round (No. 30 overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft. Nadeau’s contract with the Hurricanes will take immediate effect.

“Bradly is a dynamic forward with a powerful shot,” Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said Sunday. “He had a very impressive season at Maine, and we’re excited to see his development continue in professional hockey.”

Before being drafted by the Hurricanes, Nadeau spent two seasons in the BCHL as a member of the well-regarded Penticton Vees organization, often playing alongside his brother, Josh.

The Saint-François de Madawaska, New Brunswick product racked up 45 goals and 113 points in just 54 games with the Vees in his draft year. He added 17 goals and 35 points in 17 games during the 2023 BCHL playoffs.

The two Nadeau brothers both started at Maine in 2023. As was the case in Penticton the previous year, Bradly and Josh finished first and second in scoring on the Black Bears, with Bradly racking up 46 points to Josh’s 45.

The Hurricanes have been active signing prospects over the last week. Back on April 2, Carolina signed top defence prospect Scott Morrow to an entry-level deal; on Saturday, the team agreed to terms on a contract with 2022 second-round pick Gleb Trikozov.

Before selecting Nadeau last year, the Hurricanes had not made a first-round draft choice since 2020, when they took Seth Jarvis with the No. 13 pick. Nevertheless, the team was able to add Trikozov, Morrow, Alexander Nikishin, and Jackson Blake in the years between, while also using prospects Ville Koivunen, Cruz Lucius, and Vasili Ponomarev as part of their trade for Jake Guentzel.

The Hurricanes currently sit in second place in the Metropolitan Division with a 48-22-7 record and 103 points through 77 games this season. They’ll return to action Wednesday night to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at PNC Arena in Raleigh.
