The Chicago Blackhawks have reportedly signed forward Ryan Potulny to a 1 year deal worth $500,000. With the Edmonton Oilers last year, Potulny had 15 goals and 17 assists. Potulny was a third round pick by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2003 NHL entry draft. He has 22 goals, 27 assists, and 54 penalty minutes in 116 career games. He has a two way contract meaning he will play for Rockford of the American Hockey League if he doesn’t make the Blackhawks roster after training camp. This could be a huge impact on some of the young players that have hopes of making the Blackhawks this year with all the gaps and holes, especially in the 3rd and 4th lines. If Potulny were to make the team, that would probably take away a spot from one of the younger players trying to make the team. I’d project him as nothing beyond a 3rd line forward. He could contribute offensively and more than hold his own on defense when it’s needed. It’s a good add for the Blackhawks in term...
