TEAMS: Chicago Blackhawks
from Tim Sassone of the Chicago Daily-Herald, Defenseman Duncan Keith didn’t want to hear any talk of how the Hawks had to play without the injured Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp in Tuesday’s loss.
“Those are two of our best players and guys you can’t replace in the lineup, but having said that, other teams lose guys, have some of their best players out, and still find ways to win,” Keith said. “We’ve done some good things, but the last two games against Nashville, we weren’t happy with how things went.”
Everyone agrees, from general manager Stan Bowman and coach Joel Quenneville down to the players that the Hawks’ team game defensively must improve over the last two-plus months of the season or it could be a short spring again.
“As far as winning the Stanley Cup, it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of effort and full team game,” Keith said. “We have the ability to play a team game in here, but we need...

Player A or Player B: Who Gets Jonathan Toews’ All-Star Game Spot?
With TSN’s Bob Mackenzie breaking the news that Chicago Blackhawks forward (and arguably the most complete player in the game today) Jonathan Toews will officially miss the NHL All-Star game, there seem to be two obvious forwards who have thus far been “snubbed” of a spot in the event.
For the sake of keeping an unbiased opinion, I’ll keep the two player...

John Jaeckel: Preds Preview/Tim Thomas
Follow me @jaeckel
I'm going to do a severely abbreviated preview blog here today.
Jonathan Toews has been put on IR, and he should be, assuming his injury is not too serious as the team keeps saying, back soon after the All-Star break.

How simplicity could help the Chicago Blackhawks
Simplified approaches lead to balanced efforts by the Hawks. We saw what it can do in the win column only a few games ago, and then we saw how it can destroy the Hawks in the last 2.
A common complaint amongst the Hawks blogosphere and media alike has been the inconsistent efforts of the Chicago Blackhawks. Scoring 6 goals one game, and getting shut-out the next, Defense was seemingly...

Chicago Needs Answers To The Questions
from Dan McNeil of the Chicago Tribune, If we know anything about the NHL, it’s that January is far too early to fear the falling sky. That said, it’s undeniable the Hawks have been only as good as their current sixth position in the Western Conference indicates. There are more questions than answers.
The Hawks are only three points behind the conference-leading Red...
