A Busy Tuesday starts off with Christian Thomas (NYR 2010 2nd) earning CHL Player of the Week honors.

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Christian Thomas of the Oshawa Generals is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 4 after scoring nine points in just two games with three goals and six assists and a plus-minus rating of plus-6.
Thomas began the week with his best offensive performance of the season Friday recording a five-point game in an 8-4 win over the Sarnia Sting. Named first star of the contest, Thomas scored a natural hat-trick in a span of just three minutes and 34 seconds during the first period and later picked up two assists in a 43 second span of the third period. His week wrapped up with a second star performance in a 9-1 win over the Peterborough Petes on Sunday where he recorded the first four-assist game of his career.
Thomas, a 19-year-old from Toronto, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season. The New York Rangers prospect was selected 40th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and has 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 20 games so far this season. Thomas has also been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp which opens December 10 in Calgary, AB.
Also considered for the award this week was Michael St. Croix of the Edmonton Oil Kings who scored three goals and five assists for eight points in three games, while Jerome Gauthier-Leduc of the Rimouski Oceanic scored four goals and three assists for seven points in two games.
We are awaiting to hear from the WCHA about their player of the week plus we have games tonight so please check back later as updates happen.  (Thomas- Aaron Bell of OHL Images)

Injury Updates on Sauer & Del Zotto

Pat Leonard at the Daily News tweeted last night that although there was no update on Michael Sauer, he did see him walking around in the weight room with his pads still on, jersey off after taking a vicious hit from the Maple Leafs Dion Phaneuf.Larry Brooks at the New York Post says it is likely that Sauer sustained a concussion....i think if I'm ever hit like that I would be...

Henrik Lundqvist: The King Of The Crease

Of course, we’re talking about Henrik Lundqvist. I, like many lifelong Rangers fans, have had the unbelievable pleasure of watching Henrik Lundqvist’s career evolve right before our very eyes. The King was drafted in 2000 by the NY Rangers. 205th overall.  Other notable goalies who were drafted that year: Rick DiPietro (1st Overall), Ilya Bryzgalov [...]

Tangible Progress – Part One

I feel pretty qualified (even from afar) to be able to pass judgement on how the Rangers have progressed over the first, now almost third, of the season.  Why? Simple really. We all watch the games but I was there for games one and two in Sweden and I was there for arguably there two stiffest challenges to date against the Flyers and Penguins. In between there has been a lot of...

Pregame: Rangers Seek Number Six Against Leafs

The New York Rangers enter tonight's match-up against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Madison Square Garden in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, having won 12 of their last fourteen games. They swept their southeastern road trip over the past week to extend their winning streak to five games, and now they will look to make a run at first place with four games (all winnable)...

Have a Staaly Jolly Christmas, part 1

(SCENE: ERIC, JORDAN and MARC STAAL are at their parents’ house in Thunder bay, Ontario.) MAMA STAAL: It’s so nice to have you boys here for Christmas, even if Jared is running a bit late.  It’s just too bad that the dog ate our turkey…and the ham.  And about six pies. FATHER STAAL: Damn turkey wasn’t even thawed yet! It was still all frozen! ERIC: That’s my Rockso...

Rangers/Leafs Post Game Thoughts

Well this was an interesting game to watch. The Rangers were absolutely dominated in the first 30 minutes of the game, and wound up down 3-0  midway through the second period. The Rangers had some chances during this time frame, but weren’t able to bury them. After that, the game was all Rangers, as they quickly made it 3-2, but couldn’t get that third goal. They can’t win...

Michael Sauer Diagnosed With A Concussion; Day To Day

… not good at all. I guess Anton Stralman will find his way back into the lineup until the Rangers figure out how long Sauer will be out. Hopefully not long.

Post-game interviews

Not much to report. No update on Michael Sauer, but you’d have to guess he might have a head injury from that hit, which in my opinion was as clean as it was devastating. John Tortorella, in another short press conference, said it was a clean hit. The Rangers admitted they had a problem with Toronto’s speed, but they’ve handled some fast teams, too. The problem they had was...

Krist Letang Sucks

I can't remember where I saw this but a video of TSN's top 10 most hated NHLers exists and seems to be from a couple of years back. Sean Avery is number 1, so that. Number somethingorother is former Penguin Darius Kasparaitis. Actually, former Pens Kaspar, Ulf and Matthew Barnaby made the list. But during the Kaspar spot, TSN had a crawl at the bottom of the screen in...
