Taylor Chorney is on his way to Edmonton to hopefully bolster a battered and bruised Oilers’ blueline. With 15 points (3-12) on the stats sheet for Oklahoma City in 40 games this season, Chorney was called up by Oilers’ GM Steve Tambellini earlier today, as a fill-in for Jim Vandermeer who continues to suffer from a troubling ankle injury. Edmonton’s top D man, Ryan Whitney, is also sidelined with an ankle injury. Chorne, 23, is no stranger to “the show”, having played in 44 career NHL games with the Oil. Rumour has it that Alex Plante, another Edmonton first-round prospect, was upset that Chorney, and not he, was headed for E-Town. The former Calgary Hitman blueliner may have a legitimate beef, boasting a better +/- rating than Chorney (by two points), but more importantly scores a proverbial knock-out punch over his Edmonton-bound teammate with 82-18 PIMS.
