Chris Pronger spoke to the media Thursday for the first time since mid-November of 2011. Pronger called the press conference because he wanted to speak to the media about his situation and to answer questions about everything that has been going on. It was thought that Pronger called the press conference to announce his retirement. When asked about it, Pronger denied announcing his retirement despite his concussion specialist saying that his career is done.  Pronger admitted to the media that his cognitive skills are "a little suspect at time" and added that the doctor says that he has "significant vulnerabilities that may or may not go away." Symptoms continue to pop up from time to time. Pronger cannot run, ride a bike with his heart rate too high, or do anything where his body is moving fast without getting symptoms of light-headedness. It seemed that Pronger feels confident and optimistic about getting healthy, despite the likelihood of him returning not being strong. Pronger finished off his press conference with this quote to Lisa Hillary, "I'm just continuing to try to get healthy. Presently getting healthy. I'm not worrying about the other stuff." Pronger's future is still in question. It is unlikely to see him in a Flyers uniform in the near future. But the main concern is not whether or not he can play, it is his own personal health.
