"It is very, very tough right now. I don't feel well and it hurts so much not to be playing."
That statement was released via the Flyers official Twitter account, and was Pronger's first public comment since it was announced he would be out for the remainder of the year.
Pronger is not the only Flyer who is dealing with a concussion. It was announced yesterday that James Van Riemsdyk is out indefinitely.

Possible Mindset of the Flyers: Trade Deadline Preview
(Al Bello/Getty Images)
By Patrick Powell
All warfare is based on deception.
This advice applies to the negotiations between NHL general managers as well. GMs rarely show their hands and they sometimes use media sources to spread false rumors as a screen to allow them to make their desired moves.
In recent history, there were strong trade winds linking the Philadelphia Flyers to...
A Brief E-mail Interview with Ian Laperriere
With all the concussions that are happening in the National Hockey League this year, I figured now would be a good time to do an e-mail interview with an NHLer who has had one and that is Ian Lapperriere.
Lapperriere has not played in the NHL since the 2009-10 season due to post-concussion syndrome. Ian was kind enough to take the time to tell us about how he got into hockey, how...
Play Bryzgalov & Who Want Tuomo Ruutu
from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, • I know the Philadelphia Flyers aren’t thrilled with Ilya Bryzgalov — they think he talks too much, and his stats are certainly far from $10 million a year worthy (3.07 goals-against average, .891 save percentage) — but did they not do their due diligence. Bryzgalov is off-the-wall; he’s a character. He is who...
Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: 1/16/12
There is no doubt that Claude Giroux and Jaromir Jagr have been struggling of late, but there is no reason to be overly concerned about either player. It's just a midseason slump.
In particular, I don't think Giroux is still suffering any ill-effects from his concussion in December. Be's simply not playing very well lately and has been pressing the last few games....
Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: 1/15/12
The Philadelphia Flyers recovered their work ethic in last night's 4-2 loss in Nashville, but the team more deserving of victory was clearly the Predators. Philly worked hard but the Preds worked just a little harder and quite a bit smarter.
The Flyers were forced to chase the game for much of the night against a team that entered the game with the NHL's sixth-best record...
Couturier Continues Solid Play, Flyers Lose To Predators 4-2
For those of you that watched tonight's game, one thing was clear. Pekka Rinne is an incredible goalie. The Flyers put pucks on net, and they were not going in. It was one of those nights.
Here are some notes on the loss:
Sean Couturier scored in his fourth consecutive game. He’s the second Flyers rookie to do that this season, joining Matt Read, who scored in five...
James Van Riemsdyk Out Indefinitely With Concussion
Here is GM Paul Holmgren's statement:
"James was hit in the head in each of our last two games. He reported yesterday, not feeling like himself. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion."

The Afternoon After Round-Up: Predators 4, Flyers 2
Saturday night's Predators 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers was one of the more solid team efforts in a while and it came against a top team from the Eastern Conference. The Predators did a great job of causing havoc for the Flyers in the neutral zone and never allowed them to play their game. On the offensive side, the Preds scored enough to win but wasted a ton of scoring...
Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 1/14/12 @ Predators
PREVIEW 6:00 AM EST
Looking for their fifth win in seven January games, the Philadelphia Flyers (26-12-4) are in Music City tonight for a showdown with Barry Trotz's Nashville Predators (24-15-4). The game starts at 8 p.m. EST (7 p.m. CST) and will be broadcast locally on the Comcast Network Philadelphia (no Comcast Sportsnet Philly coverage tonight).
This is the first...
Game 44: Philadelphia @ Nashville: Going Streaking
Photo by Paul Bereswill/Getty Images North America
In a rare meeting of amicable trade partners, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Nashville Predators take the ice at Bridgestone Arena tonight.
The Predator faithful were frightened a touch by the onset of wintry weather and only 16,900+ (about 200 shy of a sellout) came out for Thursday night’s comeback win against the Colorado...
