from the Detroit Free Press, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland confirmed today that Jiri Hudler will earn $2.75 million in the first year of a two-year arbitration award and $3 million in the second year. Holland said he learned of the arbitration ruling on Saturday afternoon. Advertisement The two sides had been working toward an agreement in the days leading up to the arbitration hearing and Holland was satisfied with the outcome. “We thought we had a good chance to win a salary in the high 2s in year one, but based on the comparables, the second year was going to be a number in the 3s,” Holland said. “He’s obviously going to Russia because it’s an opportunity for a financial windfall,” Holland said. “But right now his plans are to come back to the NHL and to come back to the Wings.” more
