While this won’t exactly ease the pain of the lockout, it’s a nice gesture.  The jerseys that were worn during the warmups before their game against the Red Wings were raffled off during the game to some lucky fans. For their home opener there were some other giveaways to show their appreciation.  The Blue Jackets also gave away “2 for 1” tickets, free T-shirts, a magnet and free food vouchers. After the 2005 lockout, nothing was given out, teams just put “Thank You Fans” on the ice. This time around, teams decided to take a different approach and were apparently encouraged by the NHL to go the extra mile and give the fans something tangible.[Puck Daddy Blog]

They wore jerseys reading “Thank You Fans” during warm-ups prior to their home opener against the Detroit Red Wings. Something about printing it on the backs of the players makes it a little more meaningful and worthy of attention. It’s...
