DETROIT -- It was a mixed bag of news at Red Wings practice Tuesday.
Captain Nick Lidstrom skated for the second day in a row, goalie Jimmy Howard didnt practice because his groin has flared up again, and Ty Conklin will start in net Wednesday in New York against the Rangers if he clears re-entry waivers.
Other than that, it was just a typical day for the Wings.
Were hopeful that...
Whoever mocked the injury gods, please start apologizing immediately. This is getting ridiculous.
Goaltender Jimmy Howard, who missed three games this month with a strained groin, has suffered a relapse.
Not only that, but there's a chance that Conklin will be picked up through waivers too if some team wants to screw us. What does that leave? Here's Khan to explain...
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard has re-injured his groin and is considered day-to-day, according to Ansar Khan of Mlive.com.Howard returned from a groin injury a couple weeks ago and has reportedly suffered a relapse. Lidstrom did more skating at the optional practice today, so far...

Wings’ Jimmy Howard has groin injury again. Team is recalling Ty Conklin from Grand Rapids on emergency basis.
The CBC’s Tim Wharnsby says that Conklin has been placed on re-entry waiers.
MLive’s Ansar Khan reports that Red Wings prospect and University of Notre Dame forward Riley Sheahan has exhausted his college eligibility by committing the following deed:
Riley Sheahan, the Wings’ top pick (21st overall in 2010), has signed an amateur tryout contract with Grand Rapids, will join Griffins.
The Rangers report that Artem Anisimov said he felt great at practice today, but it is up to the coach whether he plays or not....Torts usually defers to the medical staff on injuries so if they clear him expect to see AA back in the line-up tonight....if AA returns, the question is who sits? Fedotenko is a little banged up so he is a possible candidate.Meanwhile, Pat Leonard at...

from of Puck Daddy, I spoke to Datsyuk last week about the upcoming playoffs, NHL rules changes, Alex Ovechkin and Alex Radulov, and other League topics. But as you’ll read, our conversations went in many other interesting places, including:
• His early hockey years, including wearing figure skates and a locker room fight.
• The people with whom he’d most like to have dinner...
The Detroit Red Wings’ 4-3 loss to the Washington Capitals on Monday night requires quantification via another one of those “simple equations”: Wings going 0-4-and-1 in last 5 games and/or 3-8-and-2 since February 19th + Nashville and Chicago playing on Tuesday night = Detroit could head into New York to play the Eastern Conference-leading Rangers on Wednesday 4 points and...
On the heels of an emotional win over the Devils, the Rangers went out and defeated the Detroit Red Wings on the back of birthday boy Ryan Callahan. What started off as a slow-paced game, gained steam as the night wore on and ended in fireworks when Cally ripped a shot from the high slot to secure a 2-1 victory in overtime.
On to the notes from the game…
The game started...

The visiting Detroit Red Wings lost 2-1 in overtime to the New York Rangers on Wednesday night, but played well enough to win.
The Red Wings are in the midst of a six-game losing streak, which is Detroit’s longest since a six-game losing streak at the beginning of October. Detroit is a feeble 3-6-2 in its last 11 games and is only in fourth in the...
