About NOHS The Nightmare on Helm Street is an unofficial blog overwhelmingly dedicated to the Detroit Red Wings and the destruction of their enemies. Drew started a non-partisan blog in 2008 which failed miserably.  He eventually created NOHS on the scorched Earth thereafter in July 2009. Chris was added as an author three months later.  Both are washed up college hockey players, except Chris is a stupid goalie.  Brendan aka "Sully", is a die-hard Red Wings fan living in Arizona.  Twig is a diehard fan now living in Texas.  Jordan is the founder of Detroit Hockey Report and joined our team in November of 2011.  Finally, our awesome photoshops are created by the great Josh Howard.  You can email any of the authors at nightmareonhelmstreet@gmail.com.

Red Wings off-day news: Fake Henrik Zetterberg’s hard at work; Joey ‘Mac’ and more Wings-Blues stuff

The Red Wings received their first “off day” in a little over a week today, but the gents behind Fake Henrik Zetterberg, Jacob Hawkins and Greg DeLisio, kept Henrik Zetterberg busy by asking his doppelganger—and his nemesis—to endure a little automotive trouble: You can follow Jacob, Greg and Fake Henrik on Facebook and Twitter, and their characterization of a hockey-gear...

Red Wings off-day news: Datsyuk’s taking the day off, Jan Mursak isn’t and the Wings’ PK needs work

The Red Wings are apparently practicing after their 5-2 victory over Phoenix last night, and NHL.com’s Brian Hedger reports that a certain player who suffered a “lower-body injury” on Thursday did indeed earn a little rest, while another skated with the Wings full-out for the first time in a good long while: No Datsyuk at #Redwings practice today, as expected. Resting lower...

If I'm Dan Cleary...

"If I’m Dan Cleary, I worry about forecheck, penalty killing, getting to the net.  I don’t spend any time thinking about goal-scoring. You’d be amazed at how everything works out from there." --Mike BabcockThat quote comes to us from Khan(!) this morning.  We know that everyone's favorite Newfie is having some trouble producing this year...and hell, Chris...

Red Wings compete to ‘do the most good’ for the Salvation Army

The Red Wings’ most important team activity on Friday had nothing to do with their participation in practice at Joe Louis Arena. Instead, several members of the Wings’ front office and roster engaged in a friendly competition to raise money for the Salvation Army, manning donation kettles around the Metro area, and as Drew Miller told DetroitRedWings.com’s Bill Roose, the Wings...

Red Wings Benefit From Realignment, Lindstrom for 1 More?

Other than a move to the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Red Wings could not be happier about the NHL realignment set to occur next season. The switch to four divisions and change in playoff format will greatly reduce the travel throughout the year and allow the Wings to play every team at least once both home and away. The Central Division will include current rivals Chicago Blackhawks...

Jimmy Howards rumbles with St. Louis Blues Player

Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard lost his cool on Tuesday night after getting run into by Blues’ winger, David Perron. Howard was a little upset with the contact from the forward. He immediately went after Perron and caused a rumble behind the net. The Wings goaltender responded after the game saying, “I’m not taking that. If you’re going to try and run me like that...

Red Wings-Coyotes wrap-up and overnight report: a kettle bell ring-worthy win

The Detroit Red Wings’ 5-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night most certainly represented the best first period and, maybe predictably, middling second and third periods the Wings played because, despite the Wings’ fantastic, five-goal first period, it essentially devolved into a forty-minute exercise in clock-killing for the Wings, to the point that Joe Louis...

Red Wings-Blues wrap-up and overnight report: an earned result, more realignment talk, etc.

The Detroit Red Wings’ 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday evening merits a two-word description: earned result. The Red Wings find themselves eye-to-eye with the Blues in the Western Conference standings and limped home (the Wings will at least enjoy their first practice-or-game-free day in ten on Wednesday) the owners of yet another multiple-game losing streak because...

Red Wings pound Coyotes with first-period barrage

A five-goal first period by the Red Wings was too much for the Coyotes to overcome in a 5-2 loss in Detroit.

Mistakes overshadow big plays

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A couple of heady plays – one by defenseman Brad Stuart and the other by forward Tomas Holmstrom – helped the Red Wings to a lead Tuesday. Unfortunately much, much more was needed to overcome a couple of bigge...

Wings' five-goal first period has Coyotes reeling

DETROIT (AP) Valtteri Filppula and Jiri Hudler both had a goal and assist, and the Detroit Red Wings scored five times in the first period of their 5-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night.
