Barbs asks: Do you think the Rangers will try and re-sign McCabe this summer? The dude has been money from the point on the power play.

Yup, Caber sure as hell has been a welcomed addition to the Rangers power play. In a matter of two games, he's completely changed the mentality on the man advantage. He effectively gets rubber on net and has a knack for getting the puck through traffic. McCabe is calm, cool, and collected in a way that none of other Rangers defenseman are walking the blue line.

In last night's fiasco against the Sabres he managed to have six shots on goal and two or three of them created glorious scoring chances that the Rangers failed to bang home. Sooner or later, he's going to pay some serious dividends.

As far as him being resigned goes, it's probably a bit too soon to tell. It's obvious Torts likes him and it's also pretty clear that he fills a big need. But McCabe will be 36 next season, so he would have to be willing not only to accept a one year deal, but a significant pay cut in the $2 million range. Whether or not he's willing to do that is unclear. On top of that, the inevitable Chris Drury situation will need to run it's course before he can be re-upped.

With such a young d-corps, they could use the services of a guy with McCabe's mentality. He's a warrior, a leader, and does things the right way. Learn by example fellas - yes that means you Michael Del Zotto.

Emails are cool.
