Earlier today, Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy retweeted this regarding the battle between the Rangers and the Canucks for Ryane Clowe's services... Canucks considered Clowe's salary demands which were 8 years 34 mill according to Botch. #wow — Taj (@taj1944) April 4, 2013 "Botch" is Jason Botchford who is the Canucks beat writer at the Vancouver Province. I couldn't find anything online from Botchford on this, but he didn't refute what Taj stated when he responded to the tweet (see here). ...if Clowe is making the same demand from the Rangers, and it's not a guarantee he is, it looks like he'll be nothing more than a rental. No way Sather is giving out that kind of money to a guy in the middle of a disappointing season, nor should he. And with the important Rangers contracts expiring in the next two years, Sather couldn't afford that demand anyway. ...with the amount of draft picks the Rangers gave up to get Clowe, I assume they'll do all they can to extend him, but they shouldn't offer anything longer than 3-years at $3 million per. Meanwhile, in his first practice with the Blue Jackets, Marian Gaborik skated on a line with Artem Anisimov and Vinny Prospal. ....talk about coming full circle. Prospal and Gaborik had a lot of success together so, don't be surprised if he starts tearing it up real quick. Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.
