Interesting bit of info from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun:
Montreal D Hal Gill will be a hot commodity once the Habs decide to start unloading. The Flyers, Penguins, Panthers and Senators all have interest. Don’t be surprised if Pittsburgh brings back Gill; the Penguins never wanted to lose him to free agency weeks after he helped them win the Cup in 2009 ..
Hmm... this would be an excellent move in our opinion. We lived and died almost every shift with Hal Gill in the 2009 playoffs. He would give the Pens some serious experience and depth on the back-end. Not that Engo and Niskanen haven't been solid. Gill was in Malkin's mouth last Friday night and played a really strong defensive game.
Gill's cap hit is 2.25 million.

The trials and travails of PK Subban
Questionable decisions on the ice. Shouting matches with an assistant coach. Smiling when he shouldn’t smile. Yapping when he shouldn’t yap.
Bad mannered. Temperamental. Egotistical. Oh yes. PK Subban is trouble, alright - in that he acts like most 22 year olds.
With 19 points in 47 games, and a +/- rating of 0, after listening to callers on Montreal radio today, you’d think...
Habs News, Rants, Thomas, Ovechkin and More
Morning puck fans.
According to a report on RDS, Jacques Martin still owns a role within the Canadiens organization.
This only adds to a point I have made earlier this season: the Habs keep far too many remnants of previous management teams.
Bob Gainey, who was replaced by his assistant Pierre Gauthier, remains as a consultant for Geoff Molson.
Randy Cunneyworth, who...

Morning puck addicts!
Your Montreal Canadiens played and defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs last night at the ACC in Toronto.
This was yet another must-win for the still mathematically alive, but mostly otherwise dead, Habs.
Including a 4-2 shootout loss to the Pens, Montreal has picked up three out of a possible four points in their last two games. They'll have to continue...
P.K. Subban And The Inconsistencies of NHL Discipline
There's something delicious about this image when you're talking supplemental discipline in the NHL.
It's obvious that few people think that the NHL does a good job of handing out supplemental discipline. Be it Colin Campbell or Brendan Shanahan, there's something to disagree with in nearly every decision. On-ice officiating can be questionable enough due to the...
Digging A Hole: Maple Leafs Loss To Montreal Unacceptable
Heading into Saturday nights tilt against the Montreal Canadiens the Toronto Maple Leafs had lost three of their past four games, including two losses at Home. The Maple Leafs continued their downward trend, losing 3-1 to the Montreal Canadiens.
In season’s past a 3-1 loss to the Habs might have been acceptable, but not this season, not when the Habs are struggling, not with the...

Red Wings-Canadiens Preview
A rare meeting between two of the most successful franchises in NHL history will have the stage to itself Wednesday night as the league's final contest before the All-Star break.
