Sean Couturier has played brilliantly these past three games, netting a goal in each of those games, including what would be the game-winner in the Flyers’ latest victory over the New York Islanders. Following the game, ‘Flyers Postgame Live’ discussed Couturier, eventually leading to a statement by former Flyer, Rick Tocchet, in which he suggested Couturier could be a 50-plus goal scorer because of his skill set.

Now who knows if Tocchet was just spitting out his homeristic thoughts after a big win over the Islanders, but it does lead to an interesting question: is Couturier the next star big star for the Flyers?

As Tocchet explained, Couturier has a lethal wrist shot because of his wingspan, allowing him to exhort a lot of torque on his shots and because of his quick, decisive snap to his shots. In the past two games, Couturier’s goals have been off of these ever-so dangerous snap shots.

Below are the videos of both of Couturier’s wrist shot goals:

Nasty, yes.

Couturier has one of best shots on the team and despite him only having eight goals on the season, there is no reason to believe that once he lands a spot on the second or first line, he won’t string together a season like fellow teammate, Claude Giroux.

To further support his case, take a look at a pair of wrist shots from two of the elite scorers in the game today:

Looks familiar, right?

Couturier's snap shot is almost identical to that of two of the league's superstars. Now this may be just a lucky stretch by Couturier, but what can't be denied, is that his shot is getting better and it will only get better as he develops.

It may be too early, but Couturier has all the making of an up-and-coming superstar in this league.
