GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Coyotes acquired center Matthew Lombardi from the Maple Leafs on Wednesday for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft. Lombardi played for the Coyotes from 2008-10, tallying a career-high 19 goals and 34 assists in 78 games during the 2009-10 season. He missed most of the 2010-11 season due to a concussion and then had eight goals and 10 assists in 62 games for Toronto last season. We are very pleased to bring a player like Matthew back to our team, said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney. Matthew is a very strong skater who will add quickness and skill to our lineup. He is an intelligent center who will be a great addition to our team and provides us with added depth at the center position. The 30-year-old Lombardi has 97 goals and 157 assists in 508 NHL games, including a stint with the Flames. He's also played in 40 career playoff games, posting three goals and 13 assists. The Coyotes have been actively seeking forward help over the offseason, particularly scorers to help make up for the loss of 2011-12 leading point man Ray Whitney, who signed with the Stars in free agency.
