Merchandise bearing Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s initials has slowly worked its way around the team’s locker room, but not even a hat or a T-shirt has landed in winger Lauri Korpikoski’s possession.
“No, he hasn’t given me anything yet,” Korpikoski said. “He doesn’t want to give me anything. I don’t know if they’re going to expand to Finland, but it looks nice.”
For nearly two years, Ekman-Larsson has been a budding fashion entrepreneur with an apparel line called OEL of Sweden. Three friends from school presented the idea to Ekman-Larsson, and he was intrigued.
“I like clothes and stuff, so it was fun actually when they asked me to do it with them,” Ekman-Larsson said.
Who knew the Coyotes’ premier defenseman had an interest in sketches and fabric? But it’s becoming clear that there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to Ekman-Larsson — both on and off the ice.
