Phoenix Coyotes forward and captain Shane Doan is out of the team’s lineup against the Calgary Flames. As reported by Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic, the winger left practice early and was initially questionable for the game with a lower-body injury. He was finally left out of the lineup and will be followed on a day-to-day basis. The 37-year-old has a goal and two assists through the first nine games of the season. Although Doan’s offensive production has decreased over the past years, he’s still a big part of the team. He’s averaging 18:40 TOI so far and plays on the powerplay. The veteran of 18 seasons brings a ton of leadership to the group, which will undoubtedly be missed. With the injury, Brandon Yip makes his Coyotes debut after being recalled earlier in the day. The 28-year-old forward signed with the team earlier this summer. He has two assists in two games with the AHL Portland Pirates. Kyle Chipchura is taking Doan’s spot on the line with Rob Klinkhammer and Anto...

No doubt: Ribeiro making impact on Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Let's have a show of hands for those who still wonder whether the Coyotes' free-agent signing of Mike Ribeiro was a wise move. Anyone? Through 10 games, the Coyotes' prized offseason acquisition has five goals and four assists, all of them coming in his last seven games. But it's not just the fact that he's nearing a point-per-game pace, and...

Ribeiro again scores twice to leads Coyotes past Flames

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Mike Ribeiro had two goals for the second straight game and the Phoenix Coyotes fought back after a couple of defensive miscues to hold off the Calgary Flames 4-2 Tuesday night. Phoenix dominated most of the first two periods, going up 2-0 on Radim Vrbata's 200th career goal and Ribeiro's first of the night. Calgary rallied on Lee Stempniak's goal...

Ribeiro leads Coyotes over Flames

When Mike Ribeiro first arrived in Phoenix, he wasn't sure how he would fit in, on the ice and in the locker room. Having the added honus of being the scoring savior on a team that's needed one for a decade didn't help much. Once Ribeiro found his comfort level with his new teammates and role on his new team, the points started flowing -- and haven't stopped since...

Must See: Coyotes goalie Mike Smith scores a goal

First of all, this has nothing to do with the Bruins. But in a situation like this, it doesn't matter. Anytime a goalie nets one (as long as they don't play for Montreal or Vancouver), it's something that the whole league (minus the team being scored on) can enjoy. And yes, we're talking about the goalie scoring in the other teams net (if it was an own...

Ribeiro leads Coyotes to 4-2 win over Flames

Mike Ribeiro had two goals for the second straight game and the Phoenix Coyotes fought back after a couple of defensive miscues to hold off the Calgary Flames 4-2 Tuesday night. Phoenix dominated most of the first two periods, going up 2-0 on Radim Vrbata's 200th career goal and Ribeiro's first of the night. Calgary rallied on Lee Stempniak's goal late in the second...

Mike Ribeiro takes care of business as Coyotes roll over Flames 4-2

It was a rather tame performance compared to the excitement three nights before. No electrifying comeback. No outpouring of offense. No goal from goaltender Mike Smith. But just like Saturday’s win against the Detroit Red Wings center Mike Ribeiro chipped in a pair of goals and that guided the Coyotes to a 4-2 win Tuesday over the Flames one of their new division rivals in...

Flames-Coyotes Preview

Mike Ribeiro's offseason signing with Phoenix may have turned some heads, but the Coyotes certainly are happy with his decision. He'll look to stay hot and help Phoenix earn at least a point for the seventh straight game when it hosts the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. Ribeiro has recorded at least 51 points in the last eight full NHL seasons and finished with 13 goals...

Coyotes-Kings Preview

Mike Ribeiro has a seven-game point streak and so do the Phoenix Coyotes. Ribeiro and the Coyotes try to extend their streaks in Thursday night's road game against the Los Angeles Kings, a team that hasn't been too kind to either of late. Ribeiro notched his first point in a Coyotes sweater on Oct. 10 at Detroit and he hasn't stopped. His team has gone 5-0-2 for its...

Erik Marsh: Wing Things: Line Nicknames, Howard's Return, Break Up the Datsyuk Line?

HOWARD PLAYED BETTER THAN STATS SUGGEST It’s only nine games into the 2013-14 regular season but it appears that the Phoenix Coyotes are the stick in the spoke of the Winged Wheel.
