The Pens waived forward Ryan Craig and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson, hoping both will clear and report to WBS. Both have NHL experience and both had pretty good camps, just not good enough. Craig would fit in just fine on the third or fourth line as an emergency call-up.

By my unofficial count, the Pens still have to make a roster move before Thursday. They currently have eight defenseman, including Simon Despres. They have 14 forwards, though Arron Asham may not be able to play Thursday. Eric Tangradi is still on the roster.

Guerin Cut; Fedotenko a Ranger
Bill Guerin failed in his attempt to make the Flyers on a tryout contract. Will Guerin find a home somewhere this season? I don’t know. I think he can still help somebody out; I’m just glad it’s not the Flyers.

Ruslan Fedotenko earned a one-year deal with the Rangers after a solid camp. Fedotenko could only muster 11 goals in 80 games playing mostly with Evgeni Malkin last season. I guess this shows how desperate the Rangers are for offense.
