The Blackhawks made a not-so-big move when they assigned Jassen Cullimore to Rockford on Thursday. Cullimore had cleared waivers weeks ago so he was assigned straight to the Icehogs. Cullimore was one of the surprises, for better, for the Blackhawks this season. The longtime AHLer was one of only two Hawk defensemen with a plus-rating, the other being Brian Campbell. He also tallied eight assists on the season. All indications point to this move making room for youngster Nick Leddy. Fresh off his solid performance for Team USA at World Juniors, Leddy had just returned to the Icehogs. He registered two assists for the bronze winning U.S. team. In 22 games for Rockford, Leddy has 10 points, including eight assists. If Leddy is, in fact, called up in time for Friday’s game against the Ottawa Senators, it will be his second stint with the team this season.
