Dallas Stars’ Logan Stankoven is showing size is no concern as he dominates AHL
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis joined the show to discuss Texas Stars forward and recently named AHL All-Star Logan Stankoven’s game and how Stankoven has taken the league by storm already.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Let’s start with the best forward prospect in the AHL right now at the mid-season point.

Steven Ellis: Well I would have to say logan Stankoven is the best forward here. 39 points in 31 games as a pro rookie in the AHL, very difficult to put those up, but they are incredible numbers to be putting up in his first year. Second in scoring as well. He’s found good chemistry with Mavrik Bourque another Stars prospect.
With Stankoven he’s doing a bit of everything right now, he’s scoring at 5v5, scoring on the powerplay, he’s only got like 4 penalty minutes but plays with an edge which at 5-foot-7 is very impressive.

Steven Ellis: He’s shooting at 16% and is looking good there. I just watched him play the first couple of games of the season and then watched a couple of games more recently, he looks so confident and confidence goes such a long way for a 20 or 21-year-old breaking into the NHL because it’s not an easy league. You got guys there who are career AHLers who will do whatever it takes to make sure you don’t go that far and make life miserable but that hasn’t slown Stankoven down. He can play center, he can play on the wing, I’m very excited as he’s one of the small guys who I think can really make an impact in the NHL.
