I hate doing recaps for losses. This game felt very even but the Ducks capitalized on one more chance then the Pens did.
At first glance, the Ducks are a hard team to hate. They are on the West Coast so we don’t see them that often and they have some good players like Goldberg, Conway, Banks, Getzlaf, Ryan, Perry and the 41 year old Finnish Phenom, Teemu Selanne. Then you remember that they are coached by Bruce Boudreau and not Gordon Bombay, so you can instantly hate them.
The game could really be broken down into periods with the Pens winning the first frame but the Ducks won the second and third, and there you have it; a 2-1 loss.
Jordan Staal gave the Pens the first lead of the game six and a alf minutes into the first – it was a complete snipe job. Staal broke into the Anaheim zone on a 2-on-1 with Matt Cooke; he looked to pass but realized Cooke doesn’t know how to score, or hit, or do much of anything anymore, so he just picked a corner and buried it.
