The Blackhawks headed into Monday’s game looking to get a little bit of revenge for the 9-2 drubbing that these Edmonton Oilers handed them earlier this season.
They didn’t do that. The Hawks lost 4-3 in a game that proved frustrating on a variety on fronts, special teams being the star of that one. But after a solid start, Dan Carcillo took away any momentum that the Hawks may have had with this hit on Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert.
I’ve been among those that have been pretty supportive of Carcillo this season. I haven’t believed that he’s a guy who should be lining up in the top six every night, but he’s played pretty well and has played the role he was expected to play in the lineup.
That being said, he’s been prone to some pretty stupid plays and penalties over the course of the season, none of which top his hit on Gilbert on Monday night.
