Bleeding All Blue:
Earlier I shared the All-Star balloting results that were released today and no Rangers really have a realistic chance to be voted into the game. There is no getting around that fact, but that does not mean that the campaign spearheaded by Kevin DeLury of TheNYRBlog
should fail to go forth as planned. No denying the discouragement at Dan Girardi being 72K votes behind
Zdeno Chara for the final defensive spot in fan voting, but the campaign was not one of winning or bust for me.
To me the purpose of the campaign for Girardi was to get him a piece of the recognition that he deserves and that can be accomplished regardless of whether he actually gets voted into the game. Girardi deserves to have
his name amongst the top defenders in the league and even if he is not
going to get voted in by fan ballots this year, the continued voting by
Rangers' fans will keep his name on that list as he deserves to be. Beyond that the goal can change to have Girardi be the number one player overall in write-in votes. In that particular race he is only 3,607 votes behind Bruins forward Tyler Seguin.
BEST OF MAXIM
Having an outstanding beginning to his professional career, Carl Hagelin is becoming an offensive weapon for the CT Whale in the AHL. With Hagelin contributing in every way imaginable, the question of whether he breaks the Rangers roster this year deserves to be raised.
With 12 points (7 goals) in 16 games and an outstanding +10 already, Hagelin is thriving on the ice. He’s...

CTWhale.com reports that Carl Hagelin scored the shootout winner as the Whale defeated the Providence Bruins 3-2 in a shootout yesterday.Brendan Bell and Jordan Owens scored third period goals to help the Whale recover from a 2-0 deficeit.Hagelin scored in the sixth round of the shootout on the backhand....absolutely no reason EC should be on the Rangers ahead of Hagelin right now...
It is a bit of a slow day here in Rangerland, but there were some tidbits of information from practice to chat about, courtesy of Andrew Gross.
First, Brandon Dubinsky and Brad Richards sat out of practice today. As per Gross, Dubinsky was sick and Richards required a maintenance day. These are common occurence, and shouldn’t really be a cause for alarm. Hockey players need days...
No one expected the Rangers to win-out the rest of the season. That’s just a silly thought. But during their seven-game winning streak, which was snapped when they put up a clunker against the Montreal Canadiens, the Rangers showed signs of regaining the form that has made them succeed in the past. When their streak [...]
1) The Rangers will begin their annual coat drive Saturday. If you are going to any of the next three home games and can afford to donate, please consider doing so. Here are the details from the Rangers:

You have to be slightly concerned. Not on the scale of the typical jump-off-the-bridge Ranger fan, no, but you should still be slightly worried about what unfolded tonight, coupled with the game against the Habs, and what has been going on for much of the season.
The troubling thing is NOT the lack of shots. I’ve never bought into that being a huge issue. It’s a little concerning...
…. I am pumped for this. Cannot wait to see the Rangers & Flyers behind the scenes for the NHL Winter Classic. Hat tip to Adam at SNYRangersBlog.com
The New York Rangers didn’t find the sense of urgency they
needed following their 4-0 loss Saturday and it cost them again as they fell
2-1 in Florida Wednesday night. The lack
of offense was obvious, but the Rangers are back to the utter lack of energy
and effort that was plaguing them to start the season as well. If that does not change quickly, then the
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Rangers defenseman Marc Staal watched last night's 2-1 loss to the Panthers from the press box, as he continues to deal with post-concussion symptoms.
That meant Staal had a clear view of the ice midway through the second period when his teammate, forward Andre Deveaux, caught...

First, four of the top 10 Eastern vote-getters are from the all-star game host Ottawa Senators—Karlsson, Alfredsson (yeah, he’s having a big year), Spezza and Michalek.
Second, on his first day back in uniform, Skid Crosby got 14,000 votes to vault into ninth place among forwards.
Third (and this doesn’t qualify as idiocy) Dan Girardi (37,836) is second among write-in ballot...
