All-Star Weekend: Thoughts on Zdeno Chara’s blistering slap shot
Zdeno Chara’s 108.8 mph slap shot Saturday night took the skills competition to a new level.
Is it a level we belong at? And is Chara a true natural, as a five-time slap shot champion in the skills competition?
Here’s what he did last night:
We’ve come a long way in about 22 years, when the slap shot competition was introduced. In 1990, the All-Star weekend had...
All-Stars-All-Stars Preview
Three first overall NHL draft picks. The Sedin twins, Daniel and Henrik. And don't forget Pavel Datsyuk, the consistent Detroit Red Wings forward.
Datsyuk is so admired by his colleagues that many regard him as one of the game's best all-around players.
Add it up and there just might be enough bona fide talent attending the NHL's All-Star festivities in Ottawa to overcome...
Souvenir of the week
The No. 1 pick in the draft for today's NHL All-Star Game, Team Chara's Pavel Datsyuk is the subject of a new McFarlane Toys action figure (below). Although it's not exactly an action pose. NHL All-Star Game Video: Carey Price Snubs Zdeno Chara
So the NHL All-Stars did their draft yesterday and Habs goaltender, Carey Price, was selected by Team Chara.

Still, it's all in good fun and Price will be playing alongside Chara, Tim Thomas, Lupul and others from the Bruins and Leafs...
Bruins Midseason Report Card: Zdeno Chara Headlines Defense Corps That’s Been Solid in First Half of Season
While the Bruins leading the NHL in scoring is a bit of a surprise, seeing Boston near the top of the NHL in goals against is nothing new. The Bruins have always been a stout defensive team under Claude Julien.
