Dave Bolland Regrets Gary Bettman Death Retweet

Chicago Blackhawks center Dave Bolland got a lot of heat on Friday when he retweeted one of his fan’s tweets on Twitter that read “Can I get a RT for wanting Bettman dead?” The tweet is referring to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, who cancelled more games into the NHL season as the lockout continues to go on. Bolland later deleted the retweet and apologized for his actions. “It was a mistake, I never meant to retweet that out,” Bolland said, according to ESPN Chicago. “I like to retweet for a lot of my fans, and I just retweeted the wrong thing. I feel bad about it.” Bolland isn’t the only person who has dissed the commissioner, though. Detroit Red Wings‘ Ian White recently called Bettman an “idiot” while Florida Panthers‘ Kris Versteeg said that Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly are “cancers.” But who can blame them? It’s the third lockout now since Bettman took over as commish in 1993. The last time the NHL had a lockout, it led to a whole cancellation of a season in 2004.
