LA Kings defenseman Davis Drewiske was hit square in the face by the puck from point blank range on a pass from Anaheim Ducks winger Bobby Ryan behind the net during the third period of Saturday night's NHL game at the Honda Center. Drewiske, who does not wear a visor, left the ice with blood on his face, but only missed three minutes of game time before returning to the ice for the remainder of the Kings' 7-4 loss. Los Angeles Kings look ready to abdicate throne

The Los Angeles Kings piddled through the first one-sixth of this abbreviated season, leaving fans to wonder just how interested they are in defending their Stanley Cup.They looked like a mess during their 7-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. They allowed two (Jonathan) Quick goals necessitating a change in the net. Alas, things did not improve on Jonathan Bernier’s watch. The Kings...

Kopitar, Ryan go from teammates to opponents

The lockout helped bring the Kings and Ducks together in Southern California as they figured that it would be far more beneficial to join forces than to practice in two smaller groups. Nine time zones away, the same thing was happening on a much smaller scale. The modest town of Mora, Sweden, was treated to the sight of two talented forwards in their prime, Bobby Ryan of the Ducks...

THE RETURN OF PENNERPOINT™

Guess who's baaaaaaaack??? PennerPoint™ was a huge success for this blog last season... a success in the sense that I didn't have to give out that many free t-shirts to people who correctly guessed which period and at what time of that period Dustin Penner would score his 1st goal of that game. We thought that after Dustin Penner scored one of the greatest goals...

The Kings hope to take advantage of an injury-plagued Columbus Blue Jackets' blue line when these teams meet Tuesday night. Kings, Ducks set for first clash of season

Leave it to Ducks Coach Bruce (Gabby) Boudreau to wax poetic about his team's season series against the Kings. "It's a rivalry and it's for Southern California. It's for Southern California bragging rights," Boudreau said. "I mean, I know as a person I don't like to see them on top and then every time you go outside they're flaunting it at...

Ducks 7, Kings 4

Thousands of boisterous Los Angeles Kings fans filled their nearest rivals' rink with chants and cheers from the opening faceoff, backing the Stanley Cup champions with a bit more brazenness than usual. Kings-Ducks Preview

The Los Angeles Kings are succeeding in limiting their opponents offensively. Their own offense just hasn't been good enough to take full advantage. They'll look to break through Saturday night when they visit the Anaheim Ducks, who struggled to shut down their Southern California rivals while losing five of six meetings last season. The Kings (2-2-2) started off this season...

Hats Off to Ducks in 7-4 Defeat of Kings

First Freeway Faceoff of the year between the Ducks and Kings.  Never a dull game, despite how each team is doing.  They always manage to bring their highest energy to the game, players and fans included.
